Hemp seed butter is produced by combining the fatty fractions and unsaponifiables of cold pressed hemp seed oil with the hydrogenated hemp seed oil obtained from unsterilized hemp seeds. The butter is exceptionally rich in essential fatty acids. Hemp seed butter is deep green in color and similar in feel to shea butter. It absorbs quickly into the skin and does not leave a greasy feel. Hemp seed butter is suitable for use within cream, lotion, soap, lip balm and other formulations intended for dry or mature skin. The recommended usage rate for hemp seed butter is 5-10% in most formulations. Natural tocopherols are added at 300 ppm to delay oxidation.
