Absolutes

Absolutes are highly concentrated aromatic oils ideally suited for perfumery, skin care, massage and aromatherapy applications. Some botanicals (i.e. jasmine and tuberose) do not release much natural essential oil when distilled using steam or water. In other cases, steam or water distillation can harm the therapeutic or aromatic properties of the oil. In these instances, the precious oil is extracted in a careful yet complex manner that requires the use of chemical solvents. The chemical solvents are then removed during the final stages of production. The resulting oil is referred to as an “absolute.” A very trace amount of solvent can remain in the final oil, but the trace amount of solvent is negligible.
